Sam Bankman-Freed will be tried separately

The Ministry of Justice filed charges against Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) in the bankruptcy case of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange. However, they have now been brought into a separate criminal case. This was reported by su4d of the Southern District of NY.

What the document says

The document states that five of the thirteen charges will be considered separately. The meeting will be held in March next year.

It should be noted that last month the Ministry of Justice made a request to the Bahamas to make a refusal regarding these charges. This is due to the fact that they were nominated after the SBF was extradited to the United States. As a result of the latter fact, the lawyers of the accused tried to challenge these charges.

The day before yesterday, the specialists of the Ministry of Justice announced that they were going to continue the trial on the first 8 charges. This happens as the process drags on. The reason was the expectation of approval of the petition, which the accused filed in the Bahamas. At first, it was planned to be held in early October.

At the upcoming hearing, the court will pay attention to the charges that relate to bribery, collusion with illegal business, bank fraud, etc.

Recall that charges against the SBF were filed in December. Then there were only 8 of them. However, at the beginning of this year they were increased to 13. At the same time, Sam never confessed to any of them.
