A motion to dismiss most of the charges against SBF was rejected by the court

A federal judge did not accept a motion asking for the dismissal of most of the charges brought against SBF, one of the founders of FTX. This was reported by The Block.

What kind of petition are we talking about

Sam Bankman-Fried's defense filed a motion in May of this year. The experts in it petitioned for the cancellation of most of the items. The exception was collusion in securities and commodity fraud, as well as money laundering.

The document claimed that some of the accusations were repeated or included in one article. Separate points arose when the extradition of the FTX co-founder to the United States had already taken place. As a result, about 7 petitions were filed.

The judge refused all applications. He said that they are controversial and unfounded.

Recall that at the end of last year, the US Department of Justice stated that the head of FTX was guilty of 8 criminal offenses. He was arrested in the Bahamas and sent to the United States. He was released there. However, for this he had to pay a bail of 250 million.

At the beginning of this year, the number of charges was increased to 12. In March, another one was added. However, the accused did not confess to any point, which includes bribing a Chinese official. The court has set a date for the trial. This will happen on October 2 of this year.
