More than 2 thousand people can appear in court during Coinbase's proceedings with the regulator

John Deaton, who founded the law firm Deaton Law Firm, indicated more than 2.3 thousand investors want to act as amici curiae (friends of the court) with regard to the proceedings of the SEC department and the Coinbase crypto platform.

What is known about this

The specialist noted that these people will not stand on the side of the department or the cryptocurrency exchange. They want to represent themselves in court without letting the participants speak for them.

At the beginning of last month, the lawyer published a questionnaire that clients of the Coinbase and Binance crypto platforms can fill out in order to act as "friends of the court."

He noted that with a strong interest to participate in the proceedings, investors can get the above status.

If this happens, they will take part in the trial. At the same time, they will not be counted among the parties to the dispute.

Recall that last month, the agency filed lawsuits against Coinbase and Binance, considering that they violate legislative acts regarding securities. Coinbase stated that the agency does not have such powers. The hearing will be held on July 13.
